Description
On Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Legion Field, the City of Covington Police Department along with City of Oxford, Georgia Police Department, Newton County, GA Sheriff's Office, City of Porterdale Police Department, Georgia State Patrol, and the Governor's Office of Highway Safety will work together to provide a hands-on approach to student/teen driver education. Join us at "You Drive? Let's R.I.D.E.," getting Real Information on Driver Education out to our student/teen drivers (also good for drivers of all ages!).
Attendees can learn first hand about multiple facets of being a safe, responsible driver including:
Equipment demonstrations like the seat belt convincer, roll over machine and drunk goggles
Mock Traffic Stops as Driver: Learn valuable tips about how to respond safely during a traffic stop
Mock Traffic Stops as Officer: Attendees have the opportunity to act as the police officer to conduct the mock traffic stop
Mock Accident Scene: Attendees will learn about producing the proper paperwork during an accident as well as have an opportunity to work the collision as an officer would work a crash scene
Vehicle Equipment Demonstrations: Check out patrol cars from different agencies
K-9 Demonstrations: See police K-9's in action (limited time during the event)
